An impressive large growing tree from the tropics that is well suited to our homes.

For no fuss or mess you can put the plant in the growing pot it arrives in straight inside a decorative one. This also allows allows excess water to be drained after watering.

For a good fit the opening (not diameter) and height of the new decorative pot need to be several centimetres greater than the current growing pot.

Remember to take into account tapering, as the internal height of a pot will be measured from the centre to the top but the sides will taper in on a rounded pot.

Top Tip

Ficus do not like draughts or radiators and these can cause leaf drop.

An evergreen tree that can reach 30m in the tropics, it keeps a smaller form when grown as a houseplant! It has arching branches and glossy, narrow, pointed leaves up to 25cm long. Mature plants may produce inconspicuous, green flowers in spring followed in autumn by small, red fruit.
They like indirect bright light, a warm home and good watering in the hotter months.

Best space & place
This ficus, like most others is happiest situated in indirect bright light. It is happy in most rooms, with a minimum temperature of 12°C. It does not like draughts and this can cause the leaves to fall.

When to water & feed
Allow the top two inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Apply a general purpose houseplant feed in the summer months. Reduce watering in winter.

Need to know

They can lose leaves when settling in but they are soon replaced.
