The Dwarf Cavendish is the perfect banana plant variety for growing as a houseplant in the UK. Too tender to spend the year outdoors, this banana named after William Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire, was first brought to his greenhouses in the 1800s.
Reaching a maximum height of 3m, the dwarf Musa likes bright light and misting.
Best space & place
They thrive in bright indirect light, but can handle some shade and direct sun. Adjust watering according to light conditions.
Watering & feeding
They like the soil to remain moist but not soggy in the summer. Reduce watering in winter.
Need to know
Its big leaves are prone to tearing, which is totally natural and part of making way for new leaves which grow very quickly.
