Total Height (Including Nursery Pot)
Californian lilacs are a garden must-have for their abundance of blue flowers appearing from spring and carrying on through summer.

Height: 150-180cm
Pot Size: 35cm
Decorative Pot Required (opening): 36cm+

For no fuss or mess you can place the plant in its growing pot (the pot it arrives in) inside a decorative one. This allows allows excess water to be drained after watering.

For a good fit the opening (not diameter) and height of the new decorative pot need to be several centimetres greater than the current growing pot.

Remember to take into account tapering, as the internal height of a pot will be measured from the centre to the top but the sides will taper in a rounded pot.

We also offer a potting service.

Plants are perfectly happy left in their nursery pots and placed inside a decorative pot, however if you prefer the look of a potted plant choose our potting service.
Add our potting service (indoor / outdoor) to your order when buying a plant and pot together and our expert team will deliver your plant potted (plants over 200cm assembled on site).
Indoor plants will be potted with a liner and in-built water reservoir and a decorative toping of your choice, giving a professional finish. Please note potted plants require careful watering.
Our outdoor potting service includes the soil and a decorative topping.
The service is only available for combining plants and pots purchased from us.

Watering

Ceanothus are fairly drought tolerant and if planted in the ground, once established they should get most of the moisture they need from rainfall, except in very hot summers. If kept in a pot make sure it is free draining and reduce watering in the winter.

Temperature

May need winter protection in frost prone areas of the UK.

Feeding

Feed with a general purpose garden feed in in spring and summer.

Top Tip

Most dieback is caused by too much water or that the plant is too exposed to cold winds.
