Clay granules can be used to add drainage to a pot, for decorating the surface, for mixing with soil for aeration and water retention or as a full substrate in hydroculture.
We using clay granules in our potting service to give plants drainage and to finish on top of the soil.
The granules 8-16mm and are available in a 40 litre bag.
For no fuss or mess you can put the plant in the growing pot it arrives in straight inside a decorative one. This also allows allows excess water to be drained after watering.
For a good fit the opening (not diameter) and height of the new decorative pot need to be several centimetres greater than the current growing pot.
Remember to take into account tapering, as the internal height of a pot will be measured from the centre to the top but the sides will taper in on a rounded pot.
