A newcomer to the world of decorative house trees, the Radermachera Hainanensis or China Doll trees are chosen for their small leaves that resemble an outdoor tree.
These branching specimens make a statement in any space with bright indirect light and are low-maintenance.

Best space & place
Happiest situated in indirect bright light. It is happy in most rooms, with a minimum temperature of 12°C. Direct sun may cause leaf burn.
The plant likes humid conditions so is well suited to light bathrooms, but can be misted to keep the foliage thriving.
Keep away from draughts and radiators as these can lead to rapid leaf drop.
When to water & feed
During the growing season the plant should be kept consistently moist but not waterlogged. In winter you can allow longer between waterings.
It is best to water when the plant has dried out in the top few inches and make sure any water can drain away so it is not waterlogged which can lead to root rot.
Apply a general purpose houseplant feed every few weeks in the spring/summer.
Need to know
Wilting leaves is a sign it needs a little more water or ventilation if the room is overly hot.

For no fuss or mess you can put the plant in the growing pot it arrives in straight inside a decorative one. This also allows allows excess water to be drained after watering.
For a good fit the opening (not diameter) and height of the new decorative pot need to be several centimetres greater than the current growing pot.
Remember to take into account tapering, as the internal height of a pot will be measured from the centre to the top but the sides will taper in on a rounded pot.
