Top Tip
Bamboo Lady Palm
This is a superweapon in the arsenal of the plantscaper, as it is one of the only indoor plants that actually thrives in shaded spots.
The Rhapis is native to Southeast Asia and certain parts of China. This palm is well suited to shady places, which helps the plant to retain its beautiful dark green colour.
It works perfectly at the back of a group of plants or to divide a space. It brings the sense of a lush jungle to an area, but can also be used as a feature plant to soften the clean lines of a modern space.
Best space & place
It does well in shade, part shade and bright indirect light, but will not like full direct sun.
When to water & feed
In the growing season water freely and apply a balanced liquid fertiliser monthly. Water sparingly in winter
Need to know
Its leaves do naturally turn brown over time at the tip but these can be easily snipped with pinking shears causing no harm to the plant.
