There are two ways to combine your plant and decorative pot, both with the steps detailed below.
1. Keep the plant in its nursery pot sat inside the decorative pot.
Pros - easy watering and to change pot.
Cons - not as finished a look.
2. Repot your plant directly into its decorative pot.
Pros - decorative finished look.
Cons - watering has to be more accurate.
We recommend the first option for beginners and the second option for experienced plant enthusiasts.
keeping your plant in its nursery pot

Choosing Your Decorative Pot
Choose a decorative pot with an opening larger and taller than your nursery pot

Insert Liner
Select the best fitting liner and place inside the pot. The height can be trimmed with scissors to sit below the rim if it is sitting taller.

Sit The Plant In its nursery pot inside
To avoid mess and make watering easy, keep the plant in its nursery pot sat inside the decorative pot.
Repotting your plant into the decorative pot

Choosing Your Decorative Pot
Choose a decorative pot with an opening larger and taller than your nursery pot (3-5cm taller internally to allow for a drainage layer, explained in a later step).

Insert Liner
Insert a liner into the decorative pot. We suggest the best suited size for each of our decorative pots. These can be cut down with sizes if too tall, it is most important to get the diameter correct for the internal size.

Create a drainage layer
Place a drainage layer of hydro granules in the bottom of the liner - aim for 3-5cm - creating a reservoir to collect excess water.

Choosing Your Decorative Pot
Put a layer of house plant soil on top of the hydro layer to keep this in place and to where the rootball should sit comfortably in the pot, a few cm below the rim and within the height of the liner.

Remove the plant from its nursery pot
Gently remove the plant from its nursery pot, keeping the root ball as intact as possible.

Place The Plant at the right level
Place in the centre of the pot. The plant should be a few cm below the rim of the pot to allow for topping and to prevent water run off. Add more soil below if needed.

Choosing Your Decorative Pot
Fill around with house plant soil and firm in so the plant roots are in contact with soil and the plant is secured in place.

ADd decorative topping
Complete the look with a decorative stone or hydro granules.

Use the finger test for watering
Watering needs to be accurate with potted plants as the reservoir can only hold so much water. Therefore feel the soil on top a few inches below to water only when dry.
