Orange Birds of Paradise
Known as the great orange flowering Bird of Paradise. The leaves alone are large and exotic looking, but when in flower it opens wide like a Crane. Ultimate height 16 foot!
Best space & place
Happiest situated in indirect bright light. It is happy in most rooms, with a minimum temperature of 10°C. It can be acclimatised to live in direct sun, but leaves will scorch while it adjusts.
When to water & feed
In the summer months Strelitzia require their soil to remain moist to keep the leaves looking good. Just make sure the soil drains well and they don't sit in water. Feeding is beneficial.
Need to know
Strelitzia need humidity to thrive, it is important to increase humidity by misting, and introducing fresh airflow, especially when temperatures hit 20 degrees, ventilating the home.
