Fruiting figs, wonderful for a terrace or a roof garden. In the right conditions, it will ripen fruit.

Hailing from Northern Africa, and the Middle East, they have evolved to withstand the baking of the desert, and the severe cold of the winter.

Best space & place

Grow in sheltered, sunny position such as against a south-facing wall, ideally in a container as they produce more fruit when roots are restricted.

When to water & feed

Water well in the growing season. Keep in well draining soil.

For no fuss or mess you can put the plant in the growing pot it arrives in straight inside a decorative one. This also allows allows excess water to be drained after watering.

For a good fit the opening (not diameter) and height of the new decorative pot need to be several centimetres greater than the current growing pot.

Remember to take into account tapering, as the internal height of a pot will be measured from the centre to the top but the sides will taper in on a rounded pot.
