Top Tip
Ficus Umbellata
Paper-Leaf Tree
A popular plant in Japan, its paper-like leaves have an affinity in a place where everything and anything can be made beautiful with paper.
Leaves as large as a fiddle-leaf fig, but an opaqueness which catches and filters the light delicately.
Best space & place
This ficus, like most others is happiest situated in indirect bright light. It is happy in most rooms, with a minimum temperature of 12°C. It does not like draughts and this can cause the leaves to discolour.
When to water & feed
Allow the top two inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Apply a general purpose houseplant feed like in the summer months. Reduce watering in winter.
Need to know
The leaves benefit from a damp wipe from time to time to remove dust, facilitate more light transmission, and keep looking glossy.
