For no fuss or mess you can place the plant in its growing pot (the pot it arrives in) inside a decorative one. This allows allows excess water to be drained after watering.

For a good fit the opening (not diameter) and height of the new decorative pot need to be several centimetres greater than the current growing pot. Here is how we measure and list pot sizes:

Remember to take into account tapering, as the internal height of a pot will be measured from the centre to the top but the sides will taper in a rounded pot.

We recommend using a liner to protect your decorative pot and prevent leaking (whether placing the nursery pot inside or repotting directly into the decorative pot).

Top Tip

This tree always drops leaves when being moved, and more so in the winter when it commonly sheds some leaves anyway. It is a fast grower so these will be replaced quickly.

Ficus Benjamina Danielle

Benjamina Fig Tree

From the same family as the fiddle leaf fig, this Straight Tall Benjamina Tree is loved for its softly weeping leaves that form a generous, elegant crown. Its clean, upright stem gives it a refined, architectural presence—perfect for adding height and calm greenery to premium interiors.

Need to know

This ficus, like most others is happiest situated in indirect bright light. It is happy in most rooms, with a minimum temperature of 12°C. It does not like draughts and this can cause the leaves to drop.

Allow the top two inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Apply a general purpose houseplant feed like in the summer months. Reduce watering in winter.

The leaves benefit from a mist from time to time to remove dust.

Best space & place
This ficus thrives in bright, indirect light and adapts well to most rooms in the home or office. It prefers a stable environment with a minimum temperature of 12°C. Avoid cold draughts or frequent repositioning, as these can encourage leaf drop.

When to water & feed
Allow the top two inches of compost to dry out between waterings. During the growing season, apply a general-purpose houseplant feed throughout the summer months. Reduce watering in winter, keeping the soil just lightly moist.

Need to know
Occasional misting helps remove dust, improves light absorption and keeps the leaves looking beautifully glossy. Some leaf drop can occur while the plant settles into a new environment, but this is temporary and fresh growth will soon follow.

Pollutant Absorption Credentials
The Weeping Fig is recognised for helping to remove airborne pollutants such as formaldehyde and xylene—commonly released by building materials, synthetic fabrics, paints and varnishes—making it an excellent choice for recently redecorated spaces.
