A renovated office building in central London, planted across five floors with Epiphany — the reception, and two large floors taken by two separate incoming tenants. Specified, installed, and maintained by us since.

One building, two tenants, one scheme

Planting a multi-let building is a different problem from planting an office. The reception belongs to the landlord and sets what the building says about itself; the floors belong to tenants who did not choose each other and may want very different things.

So the reception carries the statement planting — the pieces that greet a visitor and do the work of the first ten seconds. The tenant floors are treated more quietly and more practically, so that neither tenant feels they have inherited someone else's taste.

Where the planting sits

Locker planting runs through the desk areas, which is the most useful place to put greenery in a working office — at eye level from a seated position, close enough to be noticed, and out of the way of everything else.

Floor-standing pieces take the kitchen breakout and meeting spaces, where there is room for scale and where people are away from their screens and more likely to look at them.

And we still look after it

One of our horticulturists visits every two weeks — watering to the plant rather than to a rota, feeding through the growing season, pruning, cleaning leaves and checking for pests. Across five floors and two tenants, that also means one point of contact rather than each floor sorting itself out.
