Not competing with the window
A penthouse with that view has one thing everybody looks at, and it is not the planting. Fill the room with tall specimens and you spend the client's money blocking the reason they bought the flat.
So the planting sits below and around the sightlines rather than across them — enough green to soften a very hard, very glazed interior, placed so that nothing stands between a chair and the City. In a room like this the discipline is knowing where not to put a tree.
Planters as furniture
The Serax planters were specified as part of the scheme rather than chosen afterwards, which is the difference between a planter and a pot. At this level the vessel is read as an object in the room — it sits alongside the furniture and has to survive that comparison, particularly in a space where every other surface has been considered.
