Plant Sourcing

Looking for something we don't list? We buy from Dutch growers most weeks. Tell us what you need and we'll go and look for it.

Our website shows what we keep and what we can supply reliably. It isn't everything that exists.

Behind it sits a network of growers in the Netherlands and across Europe we have bought from for years — nurseries growing to sizes and standards you won't find in a garden centre, releasing availability lists most people never see. If you want a particular species, a particular size, or a matched pair of something unusual, there is a good chance we can find it.

What we are good at finding

• A species we don't currently list
• Something taller than the sizes shown — 3 metres and above
• Matched pairs and runs for entrances, avenues and symmetrical schemes
• A replacement to match a plant you already own
• Something specified on a drawing, by name and size
• Volume for a scheme — twenty of one thing, delivered together
• Mature outdoor specimens: olives, acers, tree ferns, cloud-pruned trees

How it works

1. Tell us what you're after. As precisely or as vaguely as you like — a photograph or a drawing helps enormously.

2. We check with our growers. Usually a few days. Occasionally it depends on the season.

3. You get a price and a date. Where we can, a photograph of the actual plant. No obligation.

4. If you go ahead, it travels on one of our regular shipments — and in London we deliver and place it ourselves.

Timings and cost

Most sourced plants arrive within two to four weeks, because we ship from the Netherlands most weeks. Very large specimens, and anything needing additional plant health paperwork, can take longer — we'll tell you before you commit, not after.

There is no charge for looking. We quote one delivered price covering the plant, a planter if you want one, transport and placement, with nothing added later.

What we'll tell you honestly

Some things we won't do. If a plant won't survive where you want to put it, we will say so rather than sell it to you.

Some species are genuinely difficult to bring into Britain now, and some sizes only exist at certain times of year. If we can't help, we usually know within a few days — and we'll normally be able to point you at someone who can.

Designers, architects and trade

Most of our sourcing work comes through design studios. We can work from a drawing or a schedule, match an existing scheme, hold plants until site is ready, and deliver to site with our own team. Trade pricing and webshop access are available — see the Trade Programme.

Common questions

Is there a minimum order?

No, but sourcing suits larger or unusual plants rather than small houseplants — for those, everything we recommend is already on the site.

Can you find a specific variety by botanical name?

Usually. The more precise you can be — species, cultivar, height, stem form, pot size — the faster and more accurate the answer.

Will you send a photograph before I commit?

Wherever the grower allows it, yes. For mature specimens we can often send photographs of the individual tree so you choose the actual plant.

Do you deliver outside London?

Yes. In London we hand-deliver and place with our own team; elsewhere in mainland UK we use a specialist plant courier or pallet service, quoted with the plant.

What if it dies?

Sourced plants carry the same 30-day guarantee as everything else we sell, plus lifetime advice from our horticultural team.
