Fiberclay pots have a modern and clean look and often make the outdoors feel like another room of the house. When exposed to the elements they require a little more care and maintenance than when they are used indoors. Here are some tips on how to keep them looking good.
- Always use mild cleaning agents - avoid aggressive, chemical cleaning agents. A dry cloth or sponge and some soap and water are sufficient.
- For outdoor pots, it is important to drill holes in the bottom so that excess water can drain and the container does not break in the event of frost.
- Treat Fiberclay pots with a maintenence oil or wax 2-4 times a year. This ensures that the colour is preserved.
- Cover drainage holes with gauze or old pottery shards so that they cannot become clogged.
- Pot feet keep your plants healthy by limiting overwatering. Pot feet can also help protect your outdoor surfaces such as decking from rot and mould.
